Learn a completely new way of providing deep relaxation massage from Lolita's experiences with island massage from Fiji and Tonga. Strokes are delivered using the hands, finger tips and forearms. Variances to strokes, pressure, direction, rhythm and style create a new experience for the client-- quite simply, when the client can't use his/her brain to anticipate where the therapist's hands are going next, the brain turns off and the client enjoys a deeper sense of relaxation. The addition of sound effects brings attention to the strokes, and the pauses encourage "letting go" of stress. Give your clients a blissful, mind/body relaxation massage with this innovative style inspired by the traditions of island cultures.
MATERIALS required: Students are to bring 2 sheets (one flannel if possible as we add sound effects to the massage) face cradle covers, bolster or pillow. It actually feels better being totally covered with a sheet and either having no or little clothing on or being fully clothed with clothing being free of zippers, belts, buttons and with no bras. Tight, but comfortable is better than loose clothing. The goal is for a smooth stroke over the top of the sheet. However, wear whatever makes you comfortable.
Greenstone Fusion Massage
The greenstone is a serpentine "S"-curved stone from Guatemala with a pointed end for deeper work, and a broad base for smoothing out muscles and removing toxins. It is perfectly shaped for deep massage. The stone can reach "hard to get" places such as the curved surface of the neck (SCM & scalenes), the deltoids, and back muscles without twisting the therapist's hands. The stone can be heated in hot water, although most prefer the cool texture of the stone as it effortlessly glides over muscles. Oil or massage cream is required when massaging with the greenstone. Students are taught how not to "grab or hold" the stone. Instead, physics and full hand pressure are utilized so that hands, arms and shoulders have minimal impact. Clients receive a deeper massage with less stress on the therapists hands.
SUPPLIES: Please bring one set of linens, face cradle covers, and massage oil or lotion. Stones will be available in class for students' use.
Chinese Facial Fusion Massage
As taught to Lolita by Dr. Lilly Fu, a doctor of Chinese Medicine, students will learn 25 pressure points (including 2 on the hands) to help tone, uplift, reduce tension, reduce facial lines and increase circulation to the face. Facial massage can benefit facial tics, Bell's palsy, eye droop, sinus problems, eyesight (near and far), reduce scars and help with TMJ. In addition, facial rejuvenation strokes, honey pat massage and relaxation strokes will be included. Chinese Facial Fusion massage can be added to a regular massage, and is perfect for holiday gift certificates. Therapists can give clients all 5 facial massages, taking 45 minutes to an hour, or can perform one to conclude a massage session.
SUPPLIES: Please bring one set of linens, small container to hold 1 tablespoon of honey, 2 washclothes, 2 medium-sized bowls, thermos with hot water (if possible), and headband to keep hair clean. Camera for before/after photos is optional. Students need to wear no make-up, and no contact lenses preferred.
